Manchester united encounter £69m transfer battle with European giant as they open talk over Barcelona star

MANCHESTER UNITED are interested in signing Barcelona star Ronald Araujo, according to reports.

Manchester United is keen on acquiring Barcelona's player Ronald Araujo, as per reports. The defender has performed well since joining the Nou Camp in 2019.

United has been observing Araujo for an extended period, and Erik ten Hag's requirement for a fresh defender has been evident for several weeks.

The Red Devils have inquired about Araujo's accessibility and were informed that his price tag this month stands at £69 million, as reported by transfer expert Florian Plettenberg.

This implies that United might delay their pursuit until the summer for the Brazilian, who has also reportedly drawn attention from Bayern Munich.

The two teams could potentially compete later this year, although Araujo is said to express a desire to remain with Barcelona.

He is thought to have turned down United's approaches, suggesting they might need to seek alternative targets. Numerous center-backs have been associated with a move to Old Trafford, with Nice standout Jean-Clair Todibo among them. Todibo has been a sought-after player for a while, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sir Dave Brailsford, who acquired him for Nice in 2021, being familiar with his abilities. Ratcliffe, now overseeing football operations at United, is reportedly orchestrating four transfer moves.

Jarrad Branthwaite, the Everton centre-back, is a primary target for United, alongside Michael Olise, the Crystal Palace winger. The club is also expressing interest in Jeremie Frimpong, the right-back from Bayer Leverkusen.
