Ten Hag emphasized that he remains calm about his job stability at Manchester United, even with Sir Jim Ratcliffe's acquisition, as INEOS expresses a desire to work with him.
Ten Hag conveyed his confidence in his ongoing tenure at United, emphasizing a mutual understanding with INEOS. He praised the incoming investment, labeling it a "positive development." Addressing the recent developments, the Dutch tactician expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with the new co-owners, particularly Ratcliffe, who acquired a 25% stake in the club for a reported $1.3 billion. Despite facing pressure due to United's inconsistent form this season, Ten Hag remains optimistic and looks forward to engaging in discussions and meetings with the new investors in the coming days.
WHAT TEN HAG SAID
Speaking to reporters, Ten Hag said: "As you said, the schedule is so condensed, so I haven't had the time so far to speak with them, but it will come, and I look forward [to it]. They want to work with me, and I want to work with them. We will have the conversations, the meetings, so we will see.
"Listen, I'm focused on the games so far. So, as I said, at this moment, I don't want to have distractions but in the coming days, and weeks, there will be time for this and then I will know more. But I think it's a good thing, it's very positive, we are really looking forward to working together. INEOS wants to work with me, with this infrastructure, and I want to work with them."
It's been noted that United cannot part ways with Ten Hag unless INEOS agrees. Essentially, all significant sporting choices, such as transfers, require approval from Ratcliffe's group. Nevertheless, they are contemplating a substantial revamp at Old Trafford that might lead to cost reductions and the potential loss of hundreds of jobs.
What comes next?
United narrowly secured a 3-2 victory against Aston Villa in their recent Premier League match, alleviating some of the accumulated pressure on a struggling Ten Hag. Nonetheless, his position will face renewed scrutiny should the Red Devils encounter difficulties away against Nottingham Forest this Saturday evening.
