Manchester United's talent won't be participating in the Africa Cup of Nations in January, as reports indicate. The 20-year-old Tunisian midfielder is set to dedicate the beginning of 2024 to exploring opportunities for a loan departure from Old Trafford.
Hannibal, since his initiation in 2021, has represented his nation on 27 occasions. However, he was omitted from Tunisia's lineup during the World Cup qualifiers in November. As per transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, he is set to be absent from the Africa Cup of Nations starting on January 13 in Ivory Coast. In the current season, Hannibal has participated in 10 matches for Manchester United, with four of them being starting appearances.
In September, he scored his first goal for Manchester United's senior side during a 3-1 defeat to Brighton. Currently, he's exploring more playing time with interest from three European clubs—Sevilla, Lyon, and Freiburg. Discussions about a new deal with Man Utd are in progress. Hannibal, the midfielder, has a contract until the end of the season with an option for an additional year and spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Birmingham in the Championship.
He participated in 41 matches for the Blues, netting a goal and delivering six assists.
Upon his comeback to Old Trafford during the summer, he remained absent from play until he was substituted in and scored against Brighton.
This brief appearance granted him consecutive opportunities to start in matches against Burnley in the Premier League and Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.
However, he has only participated in 15 minutes of league soccer since September.
