United made the surprising revelation on Christmas Eve, a decision criticized by Old Trafford icon Neville. He shared on X, previously known as Twitter: "Manchester United 2023 has been a disgrace to the conclusion. The timing of this is genuinely dreadful, and no operative organization would even contemplate it. In any case, all the very best to Jim Ratcliffe, and I trust he can somehow find a solution to restore the club's integrity, both on and off the field."
Neville's anger resonated with supporters, with one expressing, "It's the cause of Manchester United's severe decline. For a major club like ours, it's astonishing how poorly we are managed."
Another contributor stated, "Absolute mismanagement."
A disgruntled fan exclaimed, "Neville is spot-on. Releasing the news on Christmas Eve aims to reduce scrutiny and inquiries about the deal. He has articulated a straightforward and justified argument."
The Glazers initially listed the club for sale a year ago but couldn't reach an agreement to sell their entire share. Despite their demands prompting Sheikh Jassim to withdraw from the race, Ratcliffe remains undeterred. Ratcliffe intends to assume a hands-on role in overseeing football operations, expressing eagerness to contribute during Manchester United's challenging season.
Ratcliffe has already dismissed chief executive Richard Arnold, and director of football John Murtough may also face the same fate.
Former Juventus CEO Jean-Claude Blanc, Crystal Palace director Dougie Freedman, and Monaco transfer expert Paul Mitchell are potential candidates to step in.
